| LayerManagerUI - Maya Tool
Assessed Need: Associates requested a easier way to manage
the render-tweaking process as it involves layers and their associated
objects. Especially as it applies to large scene files within Maya.
Solution:
The "LayerManagerUI" ("user interface") was designed
with the goal in mind to utilize the various display layer(s) created
during the process of setting up a scene as the source of objects to be
added in to newly created Render Layers. The result is that one, or more,
Display layers may be selected and through either a Right-Click pop-up
menu, or the drop-down "Layers" menu, the user can create a
new Render Layer containing all the objects of the selected Render Layer(s).
The name of the new render layer will be incrementally based upon the
initial Display Layer selected to assist in distinction.
In addition, multiple resources and tools associated with the process
of rendering have been included to accelerate the render-tweaking process
within Maya. Including...
- Optimize Scene Size (w/ Option Box)
- Render Globals
- Batch Render (...along with "Show Batch Render" and "Cancel
Batch Render"...)
- Render Diagnostics
- Menu-driven access to Maya's Hardware/Software Renderer selection
settings.
- Menu-driven access to toggling all Layer pass control settings have
been included as well.
